Indiahas become the fastest growing telecom market and the second largest market in terms of subscribers in the world today. With the launch of 3G Technology in the country,Indiais poised for the second phase of growth in the telecom industry with newer services and technologies.Indiais big market for mobiles as we add about 18-20 Mn per month.

So anything to do with mobiles, smartphones, accessories, mobile components, value added services, e commerce, mobile governance, machineries for testing and manufacture of mobile has good demand. ICOMM is patronized by all Mobiles brands. Videocon, Beetel( Bharti), etc. are participating.Mediatek,Taiwanis very big supporter and has taken 18 booths which they have promoted to ODMs.

Other than India Telecom, the only show being getting Government support in big way is now ICOMM. Last year Minister of State for Home Affairs inaugurated it with Advisor Telecom, President IETE, Director Vodafone, CMD Mediatek Mr Grant Kuo on dais. Government visitors were in large numbers with all Indian mobiles. About 50 Mn. USD business was actually done and money transferred within 2 days. One of the successes of the ICOMM 2010 was introduction of Lephone inIndiaat 10USD for a brand new phone with one year guarantee. Another success was introduction of tablet at USD 100 USD.

One big difference between ICOMM and other show is that ICOMM is promoted by CMAI, which is concerned and very well known almost as Government forMobilesector and is well respected to solve issues of mobiles. That is why Mediatek is big supporter and also all Indian brands are supported. There is some difference when an event company or a general association organizes the expo and when it is being organized by a specific association which is dealing with the product. CMAI took a 104 delegation member to Shenzhen and this year about 45 member delegation. For CMAI, the show is not only a show but a need by the Government and by all industry.

Last year inauguration by Home Minister was to show that there are no security issues. This year External Affairs Minister will address to show there are no Visa Issues. The Minister for Small Scale is there to show great Government policy coming to support manufacture of Mobiles inIndia.

As a result of efforts of CMAI, there are about 10 announcements by brands to start manufacturing. CMAI and ICOMM is platform being put forth by Government to promote handset and manufacturing and investments.

ICOMM2011 will this year focus on Mobile Tablet PC, Telecommunication Devices, Mobile Phones, Parts, Components and Accessories, Digital Devices, etc. ICOMM2011 endeavours to bring together Mobile Phone Manufacturers and Importers, Service Providers, Equipment Manufacturers and Accessories Manufacturers and Providers on a common platform under one roof from several countries.

Since the Government of India, Ministry of Communications & IT are in the process of finalizing the New Telecom Policy 2011 with emphasis on local manufacturing, participation of different Government officials is expected besides from the trade and business community at large.
