Videocon plans aggressive next generation telecom foray- To launch LTE in 8 Indian States in 2013!

Mr. Arvind Bali, Director & CEO, Videocon addressing

Videocon Mobile Services, a serious player in the telecommunications industry is here to stay. In the recently concluded 2G Spectrum auction, Videocon Mobile Services bagged liberalised spectrum in six circles of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh, Gujarat UP west, UP east, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Having re-won the spectrum for the 6 circles, viz, Gujarat, Haryana, MP, Chattisgarh, UP (East), UP (West), Bihar & Jharkhand and with the ongoing operations in Punjab, Videocon Mobile Services will ensure that customers keep on enjoying the best services and great value for money product offerings seamlessly.

The  spectrum won by Videocon in the recent auction is paired and liberalised, ie, the spectrum can be used to roll out Next Generation Networks and Services by adapting a highly spectrally efficient 4G technology FDD LTE. This enables operators to gain more efficiency using the same spectrum resources. Next-generation network technologies enable about 30 times more data capacity than a traditional 2G network, allowing telcos to extend the lifespan of existing spectrum assets and reduce the amount of additional spectrum required.Videocon Mobile Services is planning to roll out complete 4G products & services across the newly won circles in 2013.

As a technology, LTE itself offers a lot of advantages over other radio access technologies.

a)   High spectral efficiency: As compared with other available technologies, LTE has highest spectral efficiency, lowest spectral cost and high bandwidth utilization potential

b)  High speeds: LTE would be capable of delivering high throughputs of ~100 Mbps to the mobile user and can support data heavy applications such as Maps, HD Video streaming etc.

c)   Richer user experience: LTE can deliver a much richer experience like seamless video streaming and hi-speed internet access to the user compared to any other technology

d)  Cost advantage: Per Mbps cost of LTE at 2.3GHz is much lesser even when compared with a brownfield 2G site that has been upgraded to 3G: it will be more so in the case of 1800MHz LTE deployment

e)   Support from various telco ecosystem players: LTE has backing from various major telco players including Qualcomm, Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, AT&T, Verizon etc

Videocon group has always believed in providing maximum value to its customers through innovative products and services. Going forward, Videocon intends to focus on key areas to strengthen their market position by providing:
